The company AK Steel International is a subsidiary of the AK Steel Corporation which is headquartered in West Chester, Ohio, U.S.A.
On the European continent several subsidiaries of AK Steel International are operating. These are located in The Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, Great Britain, Spain and Italy.
In the fall of 1999 the parent company of all these subsidiaries, ARMCO Inc. merged with AK Steel, Middletown, Ohio, one of the leading US producers of steel mill products for the automotive, household appliances, and construction industries.
It was through this merger that the name ARMCO was changed to AK Steel in April 2000. At this time the AK Steel International company was also established.
AK Steel is a world leader in the production of flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, primarily for automotive, infrastructure and manufacturing, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets.
